Is this true even during snow? Or does the sky at least cloud over? Comment by Mushalor No one else seems to be mentioning an important and unpleasant fact that I discovered today upon seeing snow: questing phases affect your ability to nab these.
Several areas I never quested in on any of my characters, including Frostfield and the area with the polar bear dailies. Dozens of spawns, and no way to reach them upon landing. Comment by Xella Keep in mind that—just like Jaguero Isle vs.
Just some info for you other enthusiast. Comment by Vanarina The good news is that when it is snowing, these pets are fairly common. I found them all across the zone while it was snowing, so you don't need to worry about missing them when they are up. Comment by Just caught several of these, while it was snowing in Storm Peaks on a Friday night at ish until p. Right when it hit the arctic hare I was about to dual with vanished. At some points I could couldn't see the blizzard going on.
You will have to look around if you keep a toon parked there. From what I could see, you only have about a 25 minute window to capture your battle pet. I caught 2 uncommon s and several lesser grades; however, I did go into battle to find a rare Arctic Hare and a rare Spider. Sadly, I already had three arctic hares so I had to settle for the more commonly found rare spider. Comment by illiterate By far the best place to find them is the northwest corner.
They spawn very quickly there. Comment by xeromem7 Caught mine on Queldori server at No snow for about five min before. Still no snow ten min after. Graphic settings are on high. Maybe they last longer after snows than originally thought- like the baby apes. Comment by LeeShu While you are waiting for snow you can do a few things to make time pass faster and to do some profit.
You can farm materials for profession now with CRZ materials are quite hard to find and you can sell them or keep them to level up profession on other char , you can search for Time-Lost Proto-Drake and check for Scourged Whelpling since icecrown is right next to stormy peaks.
Comment by lphomiej I was hunting these at the edges of CRZ areas. It was apparently snowing there for a long time. Anyway, the area was around the edges of Dun Nifflem's Lake. It took some effort to actually tag them before i went into the different phase, but it worked for me. Caught a rare after 10ish tries. Comment by I just got mine today after searching and searching for days.
It wasn't snowing as far as I could tell, but I got mine at Good Luck :. Comment by Littlesteve I went to Brunnhildar Village right as dailies reset so I could do my polar bear daily and it began to snow just after the reset. Is there possibly a correlation between daily resets and the weather changing? Comment by blkdeath75 Not sure what the weather schedule is for Storm Peaks but I have had an alt here in the area for a couple weeks.
Unless my luck is that bad I have yet to see it snow here. Took me about a week to just get Northrend Tamer when I finally found an arctic hare wandering near the giant hole in the ground can't remember area's name. As far as snowing Comment by dont bother to check sky if is cloudy, in WOW is snowing without clouds. Comment by Snowdrift Plains After searching for this pet and snowy weather for a long time this was the place where I found them.
Just like someone said he found them when flying from tournament grounds to storm peaks. Sure enough, I gave it a shot and scored. I recommend. Comment by Today was the first time I tried looking for these and found some at Terrace of the Makers. I checked other areas first but it wasn't snowing in those places, so I would suggest maybe going around to the different areas where these spawn until you find an area that's snowing. Comment by m4zurka look carefully because it's possible to miss the fact that it's snowing, at least with my graphics settings.
Comment by cupcakey Just got my foxy! I logged on for a second before bed to check on my toons parked in Tanaris, that island where the baby apes are, and Storm Peaks. Didn't see any weather at the first two places, or in Storm Peaks.
I started frantically flying around and didn't see any pets! For about 6 minutes I flew around southern Storm Peaks with no paws.
I checked my Track Pets, it was checked. I landed and flew back up, still no pets. So, a little disheartened, I started flying around the rest of Storm Peaks.
Finally at I saw it! One lonely green paw in the northwest area near Val-whateveritscalled. Made sure I had 3 level 25 pets ready to go can't take any chances! It's poor quality, but I saved a stone just for it! Some have commented that when it starts to snow these pets are abundant. There were about 4 other toons flying around Snowblind Hills with me searching, but I don't think they saw any fox kits either. Long story short, if it starts snowing and you don't see any pets in your immediate area, fly around everywhere you can!
Good luck on your hunt! Comment by Daherado Im pretty sure its always snowing at Thunderfall, and theres a mark on the wowhead map too, but ive been flying around and nothing so far. Seems to me the snow is just part of this particular area, and not the normal weather.
Dont bother camping Thunderfall Comment by whiskeydeath I decided to try my luck and head out there after the "weekly maintenance" time had ended. Got out there maybe 35 minutes after the Blizz time 11am and it was snowing. Not sure if this is always the case, but it's something to keep in mind. Comment by jeneuer I got mine a few minutes ago est in the mountians just north of brunnhildar village. Two were spawned. I got a rare and announced in trade chat.
Happy hunting! Comment by peepjynx If it has to be snowing, then maybe I can't see it. I've gone through three battles over the course of 2 hours and it's not snowing - they are few and far between but I'm finding these guys and it is NOT snowing Comment by I couldn't see the snow unless I was still. Kind of confusing, although you can find plenty if you fly around enough you can fly for a little bit and see no Kits and wonder, is it still snowing?
Then you stop and it is. Though they are spread out a bit it seems I saw plenty until I caught a rare and left. Another one to park an alt for and check periodically. Though I flew here after I caught a Silithid Hatchling and it was snowing as it was still storming in the other area. It may be a coincidence but I still say its worth it to check. Comment by collide9 It looks like the spawn time of Arctic Fox Kit is now shorter.
I did this on different times of the day confirming my observation. Some of the time it wasn't snowing at all. Needlessly, I could not get anymore of this pet as I already have 3 rares. Comment by Mysticallyme Finally after searching for this little guy for weeks, imeediately after server reset I went to ice crown to look for a scourged whelping, that I did not find. So I headed over to storm peaks to look for an arctic fox kit and low and behold there were a few running around and I captured an uncommon first try.
Just to note, it was not snowing! Comment by After server up I went to check on this pet, it was NOT snowing and lots were spawned around the zone. I repeat. It was NOT Snowing. It snows in little areas all over the zone..
This is something that I believe is being overlooked or misinterpreted. So for people saying they got theirs when it wasnt snowing, the pet could very well have wandered out of the snowing area. But the fact remains that it needs to be snowing for them to spawn.
Got my rare version after about a dozen this past weekend. Flew all over the zone, some areas were snowing while some were not. But the zone had snow nonetheless. The dots on the map above are pretty accurate for the most part, so I'd still recommend using the map as a general guide. Also, I would note the snow isn't as easy to spot as one might think. My graphics are by no means low, and it was definitely tricky to the eye at certain times..
So if you're after this guy, dont just fly in to Storm Peaks on the very border and leave if its not snowing like I did for a week straight. It may very well be snowing but you wouldnt know it til you flew around a bit! Comment by Josyx Will I ever find this pet? It's the last one I need to have captured one in every zone and get the achievement for that.. Comment by Naggash It was snowing on WHOLE storm peaks had snow, so its kinda random ie for some it is snowing in some sub zone, for others it is snowing in the whole zone.
I did 1 full circle on hot spots, about 25fights with no luck on rare. When i started on doing 2nd circle - rare has spawned, yay! To get this little bugger i parked 3 characters on different realms and was checking times a day. So its a very good idea to park different characaters in there. Comment by Blueviper Just flew in to check if it was snowing, it was and he was on the ground below Bor's Breath, finally got him, spent a fair amount of time searching for him. There were quite a few of them around, it looks like they boosted the spawn, but it definitely does have to be snowing.
Comment by Grenade I wanted everybody to know that i channeled Blizzard for a minute and no kits spawned. Comment by Iamhere The Snowstorm hit at am on my server this morning. I had time to get an uncommon and I didn't want to hog up all of the kits so I left.
Btw, it was still snowing when i left the area. Comment by zinseng Woke up this morning and it happened to be snowing at st. It's 7 now and still snowing. Couple of notes I wanted to add here for additional confirmation: After getting my kit for the achievement, I tried flying around looking for a rare.
The snow which was very heavy in Snowblind Hills where I started was extremely light in much of the rest of the zone. To the point that I had to stop moving to see the flurries were still going. I engaged combat with about 12 kits that I saw scattered around the zone.
They were not "all over the place" as someone mentioned. I flew around the entirety of the zone and there were about 14 spawns up at the time. Of the 12, 2 were uncommon, 1 rare. Also, since people are asking about how often it snows, I'll add my very small bit of info here; I started camping this pet 24 hours ago. I logged on to check if it was snowing about every 25 mins for the first 16 hours, then went to bed, woke up and 15 mins later it started snowing.
But if you read other posts on weather, you'll find that the weather in game is generated completely at random. Good luck to all of you! Also if I may add, a reminder.. If you forfeit, the spawn will reappear for the next guy who is trying to get his achievement.
So, let's not scream about despawning them needlessly, unless people are actually killing the spawns nonstop trying to get a rare up. I use the forfeit method to find my rares, I refuse to screw someone else out of an achieve or pet they might have been working at for weeks or days or even hours..
I noticed numerous kits around without it snowing in the sub-zones I was in at the time. Maybe Blizzard changed the requirement for this pet, or maybe it's glitched due to the patch I am currently looking at one without a single snowflake visible at It is am realm time according to the clock on my minimap.
Comment by Kottag Y'all are lying.. Comment by Just for fun, I created a couple quick macros of some of the points listed above as well as the points for the Unborn Val'kyr pet that spawns in this zone ONLY.
However, for your hunting purposes for the fox kit, I figured why not add the points for another super rare pet so you can check it along the way? Register Don't have an account? Arctic Fox Kit.
